His album Here, There, was released in 2022 by Northern Spy Records (New York), following a live album, Testing All My Memories (2019) and a debut EP, Coffee, released on HEC Tapes (2017). Offering an intimate dialogue between piano and voice, she reveals the breadth of her palette, as impressive as the freshness of her distorted melodies and savory dissonances.
TRIO HAÏKAÏ – Heidi Heidelberg, Leïla Martial & Jessica Martin Maresco, versatile singers
Haikai is a Japanese poetic form that is the ancestor of Haiku. More loquacious, funnier and lighter, he wields the art of juxtaposing non-logical images guided by emotion. This is how Heidi Heidelberg, Leïla Martial and Jessica Martin Maresco, versatile singers who combine their voices for improvised explorations, best define their sensitive approach. Collaborating composer Antoine Arnera has created some exquisite, dazzling vocal pieces for their voices.
Drawing inspiration from Kurt Schwitters’ Ursonata, or Stockhausen’s prosodic language, the very short pieces will be an opportunity to play with and triturate words to embody them in a poetic, compulsive and torrential energy; anarchic and hilarious rhythm games, airchant, borborygms, vocal games and snatches of Japanese-inspired psychedelic melodies…
