The vast landscapes of the Far North, with its silent forests, majestic mountains and endless shores, have always been a source of inspiration for musicians. Under the direction of Nicolas Parisot, this concert brings together the Maîtrise and Male Choir of the Conservatoire Edgar Varèse de Mâconnais-Beaujolais Agglomération, accompanied by young voices from the Conservatoire du Grand Bourg Agglomération, for a poetic and musical journey to the heart of Northern European vocal traditions.
Throughout the program, Finnish, Estonian and Norwegian songs reveal the deep soul of these distant lands. Traditional pieces, such as On suuri sun rantas autius and Gjendines Bådnlåt, dialogue with choral works by iconic composers such as Veljo Tormis,
Vytautas Miškinis or Edvard Grieg.
In a subtle alternation between children’s choir, men’s choir and shared moments, the concert explores the expressive richness of polyphonic singing, between fragile light and raw power. From Grete Pedersen’s delicate arrangements to Pierre Gieff’s revisited Finno-Ugric landscapes, each piece resonates with memory, nature and emotion.
An invitation to travel, where voices tell what words alone cannot say.
